Is it easy to find a good web site design company?

After all, you can see their web site and see whether it is any good. In most cases you can even see a portfolio showcasing work they have done for others. That has to make finding the right web site design firm that little bit easier doesn't it?

We think it helps, but we don't think it's everything. Not all design companies create their own web sites, and not all of them create all of their customer's sites either. Too frequently a "web design company" will get a large design company to produce their site and the sites that make up their portfolio. They don't care that they won't get the personal service as they already understand the technicalities. They don't care about having a single point of contact, nor do they care that they will pay a lot of money to get a few sites made up for them. Why? Because a company like this will then utilise their portfolio to win business and crawl the money back. They will provide a site that just about works but isn't very reliable, a site that cannot be expanded as the customers business grows.
